Last Day in Paris

Hey everybody! I'm back again to talk about our final day here in the City of Lights! Today we got on our way bright and early at 8:30 this morning. We began our day with a trip to the Louvre. As Professor Ryan has said over and over, you can't go to Paris without seeing the Louvre! We began by looking at the Ancient Greece section, including the famed sculpture of Aphrodite. We also saw the Mona Lisa, as well as Hammurabi's Code. It was a great experience.

After the Louvre, we headed to the Sourbonne. But on the way we took a walk through the Luxembourg Gardens. It was beautiful! There were so many fountains and it was an incredibly beautiful day out. We actually sat down and a number of us took some nice short naps! It was a perfect spot for us to relax and enjoy the sun. As you can see, we had a pretty nice view.

After getting in that relaxing time in the Gardens, we walked to the Sorbonne at the University of Paris. The Sorbonne is for sure one of the most important places on our schedule in relation to this trip. It is widely recognized as the birthplace of the modern Olympic movement. Without the Sorbonne, we wouldn't be on this trip! When we got to the Sorbonne, Professor Ryan gave us a short lecture on the history of it and the Sorbonne Conferences of 1892 and 1894. It was a nice site to visit and one that is the root of everything we have learned in our class this past semester.

After the Sorbonne, we headed back to the hotel for the rest and relaxation. Tomorrow we leave early for Lausanne! I can't wait, speak to you all again soon!!!

See ya,
Jake
