Bonjour de Lausanne!
Today was a very special day because it was Professor Ryan’s
BIRTHDAY!!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY PROFESSOR RYAN! It also happened to be my parents’
anniversary, so a very special happy anniversary to them!! We started off the
day with breakfast in the hotel that consisted of meats and cheeses, great
coffee, bread, cereals, eggs, fruits, and more. Most of the group then took the
metro to do laundry in probably the only Laundromat in Switzerland with only 6
washers and 3 dryers.
In the afternoon we got lunch at a
burger shack by the water which is one of the top 5 burgers I’ve had in my
life. We then went to the Olympic Museum which just reopened last year so it
was also Professor Ryan’s first time in the new museum. We were there for about
3 hours and saw many of the things we talked about all semester long. It was awesome to be there and see and learn even more things in the beautiful new museum. I liked seeing the model of the London observation deck that looks like a red roller coaster because we saw it last week in London! I also liked seeing the torches because we were able to hold the Torino torch in Lake Placid and we saw another one at this museum. We all
loved playing the interactive games in the Olympic Spirit exhibit and test our athleticism. After the
museum we got ready for Professor Ryan’s very special birthday dinner!
We went to a traditional fondue
restaurant and ordered platters of meat for appetizers and then 3 different
cheeses for dinner. Traditional fondue is very different than fondue at the
Melting Pot, where is the only place I have gotten fondue before, because it
only consists of the cheese and then you dip in bread and potatoes. We all got
full on cheese really quick, but we had plenty of cheese leftover because none
of us could fit any more cheese in our stomachs. We wanted some meats or
vegetables to dip in the cheese, so we were still slightly hungry after our big
meal. Then we gave our birthday present and birthday cards to Professor Ryan!
We got him a new Swiss Army knife because sadly he left his in his carry on
luggage at JFK and had to throw it out. We got it engraved with P. Ryan 2014 so
that he could always remember our awesome group and trip around Europe in 2014!
He loved it. We then skipped dessert so that we could go back to this awesome ice
cream place by our hotel and finish the night there. I was so happy we got to
spend Professor Ryan’s birthday with him and have an incredible day!! He deserved to have an awesome day and I hope we showed him a great time. We love P. Ry!
Talk to you soon,
Jess <3
